A Historic Landmark in LA County Golf

Since its inception in 1928, Chester Washington Golf Course has played a pivotal role in both the sports and social history of Los Angeles County. Renowned golf course architect William F. Bell’s redesign in 1970 enhanced the course’s playability while preserving its classic charm. Importantly, Chester Washington was the first golf course in Los Angeles County to be integrated. Events held here in 1955 catalyzed the integration of all county-owned golf courses and led to the inclusion of a nondiscrimination clause in county concessionaire contracts. This legacy was recognized when the course was designated a historic landmark by the LA County Board of Supervisors in 2020.

“Beautiful grounds and golf course that offer many unique spaces for a wedding, reception, or party. We were hired to coordinate and style a Prom Champagne Party. We provided full event decor, an “All You Can Drink” Beverage Station, Dessert Station, Photo Backdrop, etc for the event held in the garden of the clubhouse. The space is nicely surrounded by a natural 12 ft high hedge wall that provides for a picture perfect backdrop!”

They are friendly and do everything possible to accommodate every golfer. They just want to give everyone a chance to play. The course itself is great. The putting and chipping greens are good too. You can play the back 9 at a 9 hole rate but only before 7 am. I will definitely be playing more rounds here.”

“My new favorite place to hit a quick 9 or full 18 holes. It has a little of everything. The holes are definitely unique and some are very interesting with large bodies of water, long fairways and nice greens! Started by going to hit a few buckets one day and I liked it soo much that we booked a tee for the following Friday. I’m very happy with how this course is ran. I have since become a member and I love all the perks that come with it! Daily large bucket of balls! No cart fees after 1pm ½price cart fee before that. 1 free beer every time you play the course and 10% off from the pro shop! Too good of a deal!”
